Our Commitment to Child Safety
The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is our top priority. Our studio commits to ensuring we provide a safe and supportive environment for all children and young people who access our classes and events. We support and respect all children and young people and uphold their rights to feel and be safe at all times. We are committed to building an environment that is child-safe, where children feel respected and safe and can reach their full potential.
Who This Policy Applies to
Everyone involved with our studio is responsible for applying this policy, including staff, volunteers, contractors, children and young people, parents and carers, as well as the broader community including spectators and audience members at concerts and performances. The policy explains what is required from everyone at the studio when taking part in activities that involve children and young people.
Your Roles and Responsibilities
Everyone who works at the studio who oversees child safety, whether a staff member, volunteer or contractor, is expected to carry out the requirements specific to their role to keep children safe.
This includes:
a) Upholding our studio’s commitment to child safety
b) Reading, signing and upholding the behaviour set out in our Child Safe Code of Conduct
c) Completing all assigned and ongoing child safe training
d) Taking part in our regular reviews of our child safe policies
e) Reporting all breaches of our policies or any allegations of child harm or abuse.

Definitions
Child abuse: includes all types of physical or emotional ill-treatment, sexual abuse, and neglect, which results in actual or potential harm to a child’s health, survival development or dignity. Child abuse can be a single incident or several incidents that take place over time
Grooming: When offenders manipulate children and adults to abuse a child, it is called grooming. It is a common process an offender can use to build trust and create an environment where abuse can occur.
